TOP RESULTS FOR CLONDALKIN TEAM

The annual Munster Kickboxing Open was held again in the Mayfield Sport Complex, Cork on Sunday 14th April and attracted clubs from Leinter, Connacht and of course Munster. 

Dublin teams participating made up of the biggest numbers with local clubs TMA and Clondalkin's very own BMA also competing.

The Clondalkin outfit fielded 8 athletes on the day and all finished in the top three places. Overall the medal tally was an impressive 4 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals.

13 year old Louise Shortt who is on a winning streak of top finishes lately kept her strong performances going by taking top spot in the Girls LC u13, runner up in the Girls PF u13 and third in the Girls PF u15.

15 year old Fionn Kelly just recently moved up to intermediate level and is showing great improvement each time. This time round he reached the semi finals of the Boys LC u15 and runner up in the Boys KL u15 categories.

One of our newest fighters is 13 year old Ben Reid who was extremely impressive in the Boys LC u13 (novice) category taking top spot and was runner up in the Boys PF u13 division.

17 year old Donny Caren who is only competing under a year with the Clondalkin team is already making a name for himself  with an extremely close battle with his opponent from Elite Fighter  (Artane) in the Boys PF u17 novice losing by a single point after extra time. Donny also took a deserved silver in the Boys LC u17 as well as a bronze in the KL u17 division.

15 year old Gustas Gricius was unstoppable in the  Boys u15 LC intermediate category taking out all his opponents with his amazing reach and with it easily taking the first place trophy.

16 year old Cayden Derwin who just recently qualified for his first national team who will compete in the WAKO World Championships in Hungary later in the year is on the right track showing great skill in the Boys u17 LC & KL divisions by finishing in third and second place respectively.

The youngest protege of the Clondalkin team on the day was 7 year old Jamie Hawkins who fought out of his skin to reach the finals in the Boys PF u7 & Boys PF u9 divisions only to lose by a couple of points in both categories.

9 year old Hannah Sammon  took first place in the Girls PF u9 novice and bronze in the Girls LC u9 novice division. Hannah was on loan for the day from sister club BMA Naas and was a great addition.
