The 6th edition of the Rumble in Clondalkin martial arts showcase hosted by BMA Clondalkin was once again held in the Clayton Hotel Liffey Valley on the 10th August just gone.
The event proved to be a huge success as it attracted clubs from all over the country with fighters evenly matched up on the impressive fight card looking for a coveted win on one of Ireland's biggest tatami fight nights.
The fight card consisted of 47 bouts on the night ranging from children (8-9 years), younger cadets (10-12 year olds), older cadets (13-15 years), juniors (16-18 years) and adults.
BMA Clondalkin hosted the event as a fundraising event for its five young athletes that will represent Ireland in the forthcoming WAKO World Youth Kickboxing Championships which will be held in Budapest, Hungary at the end of August.
As well as Clondalkin's rising stars, the show had some of the best of Kickboxing Ireland's young kickboxers from Tallaght Martial Arts, Elite Kickboxer, Hurricane Martial Arts, Whitehall Martial Arts, BMA Leixlip, BMA Naas, BMA Cork, BMA Enfield, Eagle Martial Arts, Team Revolution and Diamond Martial Arts.
The Main Event of the night was a rematch between Clondalkin's very own Cayden Derwin versus TMA's Dillon King. The pair met in the TMA fight show last month where the Clondalkin star outpointed the Tallaght teen in a very close 2 round battle.
The rematch was once again a fast paced battle where both fighters were even on all score cards going into the last round.
At the final buzzer, all judges were once again stalemate, meaning a decision had to be made (no draw permitted) to declare the winner. The judges sided with the TMA fighter as he finished stronger.
Nonetheless a fair decision with great sportsmanship as both fighters will be representing Ireland at the World Youth Kickboxing Championships in two weeks time.
"This is a great platform for young up and coming fighters to showcase their skills in front of family, friends and club mates, giving them a 'star like platform'. It is also the perfect opportunity for a last test run for fighters before the World Youth Championships in two weeks." says promoter Ilija Salerno.
